Visit Websites with VisuSurfer – QR Code Not Required

iRead Solutions Inc. today is thrilled to announce the release and immediate availability of VisuSurfer 1.0, a new productivity app developed for iPhone. VisuSurfer provides an easy way to browse websites from printed web addresses – without typing or tapping. The app features advanced OCR technology that automatically takes action within seconds to quickly and accurately recognize web addresses.

Printed phone numbers, web and map address exist in many places. QR codes were invented to permit computer technology to easily and accurately detect information and are used in many places so people can easily browse to a website. However, humans cannot read these codes and there are many places where printed websites exist without a QR code. Today, VisuSurfer give users the ability to experience the same convenience from QR codes with normal printed text.

“When reading a newspaper or magazine advertising, I can now visit a website immediately, by simply placing the phone over the printed web address and VisuSurfer browses to it automatically,” said Mona Regner, president of iRead Solutions Inc.

The OCR technology in the app detects printed text very quickly. VisuSurfer provides a simple single purpose function, which recognizes web addresses from printed text. User interactions with this app are minimal – move the iOS device so it can see the printed text of interest (tapping to focus if necessary) and wait as little as a second for the data to be recognized and take action. It is that simple.

VisuSurfer 1.0 is $1.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Productivity category.

Loyal Zoo launches UK cloud-based loyalty app for independent merchants

Based in Chiswick, West London, Loyal Zoo Ltd is the first UK company to develop a loyalty app which works without paper, plastic or QR codes. Everything is done with just a couple of taps. The Loyalzoo app was developed specifically for small and independent merchants. This is an important event in the retail trade. Until now, it is the big brands which have benefitted from the digital revolution. Now, the independent sector has a loyalty app tailored to suit its needs.

Many shops are adopting the system, in Chiswick as well as in other parts of London and the UK. These range from coffee shops, bakeries, beauty salons, pubs, and even dental clinics. Here are some of the unique features of the Loyalzoo app:

* Simple one-tap use. The loyalzoo app is a purely cloud-based system. So there is no plastic, cardboard or QR codes. Anyone with an iPhone or any Android phone can get started straightaway. It will soon be available for Blackberry and Windows phone users.

* Local shops in one place. Many independent shops may have their own loyalty scheme. But customers are tired of carrying around pieces of cardboard. Now, they can just launch the app and see all their rewards in one place.

* Suitable for any retail outlet. There are two types of scheme: points or stampcard. The stampcard will be used by shops with a simple range of goods – coffee shops or drycleaners for example. The points-based scheme works best for clothes shops, restaurants or pubs, outlets with a greater diversity of products. Both schemes allow for up to three different types of reward.

* Simple sign-up. Customer sign-up could not be more simple. Many people using independent shops do not want to fill out long forms giving all sorts of unnecessary information. They can sign-up and get started with name only, or even a nickname.

* Facebook integration. Customers also have the option to sign-in via Facebook, allowing them post their checks-in to their Facebook wall automatically.

“A loyalty app for independents is an innovation whose time has come,” says director and co-founder Mark Ryan. “The number of shops offering their own loyalty scheme is now unmanageable for the consumer. People can’t keep track of them, yet merchants know that rewarding loyalty is a must.”

The launch also coincides with growing concern for the future of the high street. The closure of so many local shops as well as the rise of online shopping has left Britain’s high streets in a parlous state. After years of decline, there are signs of a return to supporting local merchants. Neighbourhood shops are appreciated now, not just for the uniqueness of their offering, but also for their contribution to the life of an area.

The Loyalzoo idea is a blend of tradition and high-tech. “We’re out to support local shops with the very latest technology,” said Ryan. “In the past, when it came to innovation, independents have come last. Now they will leapfrog the big brands because the Loyalzoo app is so much more advanced than what the chains use, yet much simpler to use for both customers and merchants. We’ve made it super-smooth and simple. A busy shop, pub or restaurant can’t have it any other way. And it looks great. Here’s a way of supporting the High Street which benefits both merchant and consumer.”

Loyalzoo 1.2, the innovative app designed to connect local, independent merchants to their customers, and to offer them rewards for repeat business, is Free and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Lifestyle category. It also available on Google Play.

Copy Magic: iOS App Lets You Copy Text Between Devices Without a Network

Ever been in a situation where you needed to share text or contact info to the person beside you but don’t want to go through the hassle of bluetooth pairing, connecting to Wifi or 3G? Copy Magic is an innovative application that lets you share text and contacts between nearby iOS devices without the use of any network. It even copies data while both devices are on airplane mode!

Copy Magic is easy to use and works by just copying a piece of text to the iPhone’s clipboard from your Notes, Email or any app. Once Copy Magic is opened, the text is automatically converted to a special QR code, available for sharing to another device. When this code is scanned by the other device, Copy Magic instantly copies the text to the other phone’s clipboard, ready for pasting to any other app.

Unlike other applications that use 3G, Wifi, bluetooth or even sound to transmit data between phones, CopyMagic does not depend on any network or internet connection nor does it require messy and lengthy Bluetooth pairing procedures.

Other features include:
– Copy contacts between phones, and add them straight to the phone’s address book
– Copy phone numbers and instantly call or SMS the phone number
– Create a QR code for your contact details via the “My Card” feature, and you can easily share your information to others

“For business professionals, this app is revolutionary for those times where they need to share data between phones, but they are roaming or are in locations where a network is unreliable or non-existent”, said Sherwin Sowy, Founder of Bespoke Apps.

Other Bespoke Apps mobile applications include Contact Sender, a top application that has generated more than 500,000 downloads to date, Scary Alarms, and other notable applications such as SMS Templates and Encrypt SMS, an application that encrypts SMS with military grade encryption.

Copy Magic 1.0 is free and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Utilities category. An in-app purchase option to remove ads is available for $1.99 USD.

QR Codes Make It Easier for Nonprofits to Capture Moments of Inspiration

Linxter announced today that it is adding Quick Response (QR) code mobile donation support to allAware 1.1 , a mobile app designed to enhance communication and member engagement for nonprofit organizations. “QR codes will make it even easier for members to support their organizations,” Jason Milgram, founder and CEO of Linxter said. “All they will have to do is open the app and snap a picture.”

For a small set up fee, organizations get the QR code functionality turned on for their account and a customized poster with their unique QR code, which will link directly to a donation form in the allAware app. People, whether they are a member of your organization or not, will then be able to select the amount they wish to donate, set it as a one-time or recurring donation, and either pledge the amount or select a credit card to make the payment in real-time.

“We want to make it as easy as possible for nonprofits to capture that moment of inspiration,” Milgram said. “We have been hearing a lot of interest in member organizations about QR codes and we see them as a great tool in the nonprofit toolbox to help reach out and engage members.”

QR codes are seeing an explosion in adoption. According to one study, usage of QR codes has skyrocketed by more than 600% from January to December 2011 in the Top 100 U.S. magazines with 99% of magazines publishing at least one QR code. According to another study, half of all smartphone users in the U.S. have scanned a QR code at least once. “As users become more comfortable using QR codes, we want to make sure allAware is right there with them,” Milgram said. “Our goal is to make allAware the easiest platform for nonprofits to tell their stories, engage their members and enable simple mobile giving so the community can help keep the lights on at those nonprofits that work hard at making their community a better place.”

allAware 1.1 is free and available worldwide through the App Store in the Social Networking category. allAware is also available on the web and as a downloadable mobile app for Android, Kindle Fire, and Windows Phone. An iPad and Windows 8 version of allAware will be released in a few weeks.

Location-Based Social App Redefines the Way People Share Information

Developer of innovative and consumer-focused applications, Convos Limited, is pleased to announce the launch of the Convos 1.0 app to the iTunes App Store. Convos is the first of its kind location-based social sharing app that aims to change the way users communicate through social media. By consolidating all social media platforms into one easy-to-use application with customizable profiles and privacy settings, Convos allows users to control where their content is sent and who sees it.

Convos is designed for people using social media for any reason: keeping up with friends, checking in on family, and networking with professionals. Within a single app, users can manage content on all of their social media sites and control who is able to view specific information. While photos from the previous night may wind up on the pages of friends, they can be kept far away from family and professional contacts.

Adding users to a Convos contact network is very user-friendly; users simply scan the custom generated QR code supplied by the app and their information will be added. When a new contact is added, options for what they can and cannot access will be available, allowing the user a large amount of privacy control. Users are given options like selecting certain co-workers to be restricted to email and task management sites while selected family and friends see only Facebook and Twitter posts.

“Convos is essentially a cross between location-based chatting and selective information sharing,” said Convos Limited Chief Administrative Officer, Safiah Yoonus. “People obviously don’t want everyone they know to know everything about them, so Convos lets its users choose which of their contacts can view particular information about them, keeping their information and location as protected as they wish it to be.”

Convos also features convenient real-time GPS location-sharing. Similar to Convos’ profile-sharing privacy features, users have the ability to share their real-time locations with different select profiles, allowing users to plan events or meet up with nearby friends. Along with location-sharing, Convos allows real-time communication between contacts via instant messaging. Icons notify the user if their message has been sent and received, or if it failed to send, in order to provide a more effective means of communication than standard SMS texting. This messaging service is free with the app and only requires an internet connection.

Convos 1.0 is free and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Social Networking category.
