Key Points
Cross both palms and place them on the upper and lower parts of the lumbodorsal region. Push and press apart upward and downward respectively, while shifting positions during the movement.
Operating Procedures
Cross your arms and apply force with both palms on the upper and lower lumbodorsal area of the patient. Push and press in opposite directions upward and downward simultaneously, and keep moving the hands while manipulating. This technique is called Cross Double-Palm Separating Pushing (Shuang Zhang Jiao Cha Fen Tui Fa) (Figure 1-24).

Applicable Areas
It is applied to the lumbodorsal region and spinal column.
Force & Sensation
Use moderate to heavy force, or explosive force to mobilize the small spinal joints.
Therapeutic Effects
It widens the intervertebral spaces and relieves tension of muscles and ligaments on both sides of the spine. It is mainly used for various spinal injuries, lumbodorsal pain and related conditions.
Contraindication: This manipulation is prohibited for patients with spinal tuberculosis or spinal tumors.
